We have news, friends, and at long last, Insomniac Games has come out with the official date of the release of Marvel Wolverine. This is the most expected PS5 exclusive that will be released on September 15, 2026. We had been hearing on it coming sometime in Fall 2026 but the date never got narrowed down. There is no longer any speculation on Sony.
X has just been posted by Insomniac Games, in which he says, Let’s cut to the point: Marvels Wolverine releases, September 15, 2026. The announcement had no new trailer, although it is possible to add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store, and pre-orders have not yet begun.
Rivalry with GTA 6 avoided, the strategy of Sony is evident
A major concern among fans was the fact that Wolverine would be released at the same time as Grand Theft Auto 6. As it turns out, the release of Wolverine is two months earlier than GTA 6.
GTA 6 arrives November 19, 2026 and Wolverine arrives in September. That would give Sony and Insomniac sufficient runway to make a good debut into the market.

The initial big gameplay trailer of Wolverine was revealed in the State of Play stream by Sony in September, 2025. Years later, Insomniac released a scene where Logan is viscerally eating a person in a bloody scene with the claws.
The video helped to understand that the game is not a light-hearted superhero adventure, it is dark and serious. The blood effects and gore is a testament to the fact that the devs are not holding back.
Who is voicing Marvel Wolverine?
Insomniac has also established that an Australian actor, Liam McIntyre will play Wolverine. He is most famous in his appearance in the Spartacus TV series.
McIntyre also has a good gaming history, playing JD37 Fenex in Gears 4 and 5, and Jedi Master Taron Malicus in Star Wares Jedi: Fallen Order but you will get well-done voice work in this game.

Insomniac Games indicates that this game will be a sort of original interpretation of Wolverine, though not a direct remake of either the comics or the films- its own plot.
The story revolves around the efforts made by Logan to determine some secrets about his dark past. Players will go to a number of places, among them:
- Canada’s icy wilderness
- Japan
- The imaginary Madripoor island in the X-Men comics.
Another teaser of other characters in the Marvel universe such as Mystique was also released in the trailer, and this unveiled the central twists and cross-overs between superheroes.
How will the gameplay be?
Up until now, Wolverine is a one-player narrative-driven action-adventure. The Spider-Man series is known as the work of Insomniac, who prepares to provide a more adult and serious superhero this time. The battle that wolverine will engage in will be close, gruesome and hard.
