What is the exact thing that is going on in this Auction

To put it simply, the government is borrowing money through issuance of bonds, also referred to as government securities or G-Secs. When investors purchase these bonds, they lend the money to the government and in the long run they get returns in terms of interest.
This is a special auction of new bonds as well as re-issued bonds. It has been well designed to appeal to various categories of investors ranging between those interested in generating short term income to those who are interested in investing over decades.
Various Bonds Part of the Auction
Multiple segments have been created in the auction to balance risk and return. A huge percentage of the amount being raised is made up of bonds maturing in 2029 and 2033. They are fairly medium-term solutions and are frequently favored by investors who do not wish to commit their funds too long.
It also has long-term bonds that will mature in 2055 and 2056. They are meant to be used by investors who are comfortable to remain invested over a considerably longer duration. Interestingly, in the 2056 bond, green bonds are also available, as they favor environmentally friendly projects and reveals a tendency towards sustainable development.
Primary Dealers Role
One of the major components of this process is the institutions called primary dealers. They are financial institutions that assist in guaranteeing the success of the auction as they are participating and are willing to purchase a given quantity of the bonds.
Minimum bidding requirements have been put by the RBI on such dealers. In the case of medium term securities there is an increased commitment whereas in long term bonds there is a small reduction in the requirement. This systematic system will keep everything in check and the auction will go on in a healthy manner.
The Auction will be conducted in the following manner
It is going to be auctioned in a multiple price mode. This implies that the various bidders can be offered a bond at varying prices based on their bids.
All this will be carried out electronically by the e-Kuber platform of RBI, its main banking platform. The bidding period is very small and the bidding period will be between 9: 00 am and 9: 30 am. The process is fast and efficient because all the bids are to be submitted electronically during this limited period of time.
What do the Dealers get out of it?
Primary dealers are not simply acting as obligated participants. They receive payment of their role based on an underwriting commission. This is paid directly to their accounts on the same day when the securities are issued. This will guarantee transparency and stability of the financial system since there will be no payment and settlement lag.
The importance of this Auction
This auction can be viewed as a technical financial affair, but its effects are more extensive. It assists the government to finance infrastructure, social programs and other vital services. Simultaneously, it provides investors with a fairly risk-free government-backed investment.
To the economy it is an indicator of a vigorous financial management. To the investor, it presents a chance to have a structured and secure system of investment.

The G-Sec auction of 32,000 crore is not just a figure. It is a reflection of how the government spends and allocates money, future planning and maintaining the financial system at an equilibrium. Now, more than ever, the process is transparent and efficient with the aid of digital systems, established rules, and orderly participation.
