The Indian Stock Market Today found Monday a very hard day. The face of investors was well visible immediately the market opened. This increased tension involving the Middle East had a direct effect on the Indian market and a sudden sell off was underway within hours.

This was worsened as the Sensex and Nifty ended up closing with huge losses. This downfall grossly impoverished the investors as about 22 lakh crore of assets were washed away in the market.

Large Effect on the Wealth of the Investors

This massive deterioration in the market reflected a lot on the pockets of investors. The uncertainty encountered in the market in the past few days had already undermined the market, but which deteriorated further in Monday.

The overall wealth of investors has gone down by about 22 lakh crore in a period of ten days owing to the data. This reduction has heightened the worries of both small and big investors as the future direction of the market now seems to be entirely reliant on the situations in the world market.

Oil Prices are Raising Concerns

The Middle East tensions have significantly affected the prices of crude oil. The oil prices drastically increased in the world market and hit a high of more than 115 per barrel. The price later weakened and stabilized at the price of about 105.

It is however worrisome that the prices of crude oil have increased by nearly 50 percent over the past ten days. This increase may be a significant problem to countries like India that are the major importers of oil.

The risk of inflation increased

The increased cost of oil may have a direct effect on the lives of the common citizen. Petrol/diesel prices may also increase in India in case the oil prices in the international market are high. It will also add freight expenses, and with time, even such daily products could be costly.

Analysts are of the opinion that once the price of crude oil hits 150 USD per barrel, the petrol and diesel prices in India would increase by about 5-6 rupees per liter. The government, however, indicates that the country has enough oil reserves hence no panic is necessary at the moment.

Effects of International Tensions on the Indian market

The Indian stock market has now been completely integrated in the international markets. In India, the effects of pressure in markets in the US, Asia, or Europe are also experienced. The continued violence in the Middle East has caused more fear and uncertainty among investors and this has resulted to the heavy selling in the market.

Stock Market Today

The future trend in the market over the next few days will depend mainly on the state of affairs in the international market, price of crude oil and the confidence of investors around the world.
