Credit Score: Taking a loan is not a big issue anymore. Most people go to banks or NBFCs whether they need to purchase a house, open a business or they simply need money. However, the actual issue commences when a loan is declined despite all the arrangements being in place. The reason is not just a low credit score as many people presume but it is much deeper.

Credit Scores are not the Only Determining Factors in Loan Decisions

It is a common notion among people that with a good credit score, they can be sure that they will be loaned. Nevertheless, banks do not make their decisions with a single number in mind.

Credit Score

They look at your total financial status, employment conditions, income-generating capacity and the proportion of outstanding debts to spend. Even with a great score, there are times when banks are not interested in investing in the case of low income or when you have an unstable job.

There is also Income and Job Stability

Banks would want to know whether you would be in a position to pay EMIs in future. When you switch jobs regularly, your company is small, or when your income is not regular, the bank is not so confident. This has been mostly common among the employees in the private sector. Banks find individuals who earn a constant stream of income to be more safe.

There are also already outstanding debts

The bank believes that it is not safe to issue a new loan to you when you already have more than one or two loans, or have a high credit card limit. This is referred to as the debt-to-income ratio. Even with a good score, a loan is hard to take since your EMIs may be an already high percentage of your salary.

The policies of the banks also influence

Risk appetite is different in each bank. Other banks target individuals who belong to certain fields or profiles. It might also happen that the bank you are applying to has stricter loan policy then. Thus when one places you on the reject list that does not imply that you will be rejected everywhere.

Such factors can include even minor errors in documents and profiles

In a number of occasions, the applications submitted by people are rejected due to the fact that they have not presented the correct income documents, their address is not updated, or even their employment history is not clear. Banks develop trust using small signals. In case they feel that there is any form of uncertainty, they will hold the loan.

When you are well prepared, you are likely to secure a loan

In case you are in need of a loan, you cannot simply upscore. Get organised on the income front, minimise current debt and ensure that you hold on to a steady job and keep your documents in order. The bank will give you higher chances of being approved when they think that you will be responsible with the loan.

Credit Score

Being rejected in a loan does not necessarily mean that a person has a poor credit score. Banks take into account your whole financial background in deciding. So when you are rejected with an application it is better to know why instead of panic. Making the right action can enhance your future probability to secure a loan in future.
