Indian Railways New Ticket Booking Rules: Rail travel is the heartbeat of our country. Every day, millions of people use trains for work, education, business, or to visit their families. Amidst the crowds at stations, the rush for tickets, and the anxiety of travel, if the ticket booking process changes, it’s natural for people to wonder what’s next.
Keeping passengers’ convenience in mind, the Railways has decided to make a major change to the ticket booking system, which will come into effect on March 1.
Indian Railways New Ticket Booking Rules
| Feature | Old System (UTS App) | New System (RailOne App) | Benefit for Passengers | Effective From |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General Ticket Booking | Available in UTS | Available in RailOne | One app for all tickets | March 1 |
| Platform Ticket | Available in UTS | Available in RailOne | Faster purchase process | March 1 |
| Reservation Ticket | Separate apps needed | Available in RailOne | No multiple apps required | March 1 |
| User Convenience | Multiple apps required | Single integrated app | Easier digital access | March 1 |
| Ticket Management | Limited integration | Unified dashboard | Better tracking of tickets | March 1 |
Old method will change, ticket booking will be done through a new app

Previously, many passengers used the UTS app to book general tickets or platform tickets. This app has been helpful for passengers for a long time, but now the Railways is preparing to gradually discontinue it. A new app, RailOne, is being introduced in its place. This app aims to simplify the entire ticket booking process and make it available in one place.
All ticketing services will be available in a single app
Under the new system, passengers will no longer need to download separate apps for different purposes. The RailOne app will provide all three services, including general tickets, platform tickets, and reservation tickets, all in one place.
This will save passengers time and eliminate the hassle of having multiple apps on their mobile phones. The Railways believes this will further promote digital ticketing and reduce long queues at stations.
Decision taken with passenger convenience in mind
This move by the Railways is being considered a step towards improving the passenger experience by simplifying technology. It could be especially beneficial for those who travel by train daily and need to quickly obtain tickets. With all the features in a single app, the ticketing process is expected to be faster and easier than before.
Another Step by the Railways towards Digital Travel

Over the past few years, the Railways has focused on digitizing ticketing, information, and services. The new app is another step in that direction. Its aim is to provide greater convenience to passengers and simplify the ticketing process, eliminating half the hassle before the journey even begins.
