SBI Cashback Card Updat: Credit cards have become a part of many people’s everyday lives. Whether for online shopping, bill payments, or travel expenses, people use their cards for cashback and rewards.
But if you have a cashback SBI card, the coming month may be a bit disappointing. The bank has decided to change the cashback rules offered by this card, reducing the benefits users receive.
SBI Cashback Card Updat
| Feature | Earlier Rule | New Rule from April 1, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum Monthly Cashback | Up to ₹5,000 total | Reduced to ₹4,000 total |
| Spending Categories | No separate limits for online/offline | Cashback split into online and offline caps |
| Flexibility | Full cashback possible from one category | Cannot earn full cashback from single category |
| Overall Benefit | Higher savings potential for users | Reduced total cashback benefit |
| Effective Date | Existing system till March 31, 2026 | New rules apply from April 1, 2026 |
How much cashback was previously available?

Until now, the card’s biggest highlight was that users could earn a total cashback of up to ₹5,000 per month. This limit applied to all transactions, whether online or offline. Because of this, many people preferred this card for everyday expenses, as it offered a significant savings opportunity.
What’s Going to Change Now?
This rule will change from April 1, 2026. The bank has reduced the total cashback limit to ₹4,000. Furthermore, this amount will now be divided into separate parts, meaning separate limits will be set for online and offline spending. This means that a user will not be able to earn the full cashback limit from just one type of spending.
What will be the impact on users?
After the new rules come into effect, the total savings from the card may be lower than before. People who used to shop more online or spend more in a particular category will no longer benefit as much as before. This may force users to adjust their spending patterns to maximize cashback benefits.
Why are such changes made?
Banks periodically revise their card terms and conditions. This is intended to balance spending patterns and control costs. Therefore, card benefits do not always remain the same, and users should keep an eye on the new terms and conditions.

If you have this card, it is important to understand the new rules so that you can plan your spending accordingly. With accurate information, you can use the card wisely despite receiving a lower cashback.
